Angel Luis Huertas-Gonzalez entered into eternal rest on Sunday, March 3, 2024, at the Alaris Health at Hamilton Park in Jersey City. Born in Maunabo, Puerto Rico, he moved to Bayonne to live with his daughter and her family. Before his retirement, he held a 26-year position as a warehouse manager for the Howard Berger Company in Monroe, N.J.
Angel embraced the outdoors with great enthusiasm. He was nicknamed the "Bluefish Lou," a testament to his passion for intense deep-sea fishing and catching boats out of Sheepshead Bay and the Long Island Sound on the north shore. He pursued various hobbies and interests and seldom missed a baseball game on TV, especially his favorite New York teams. He was a master player at Domino's, earning the title "Domino Shark" for his strategic skills.
Above all, Angel deeply and undeniably loved his family and embraced the role of father and grandfather with unwavering pride and dedication. As we bid farewell to Angel, let us remember the joy he brought into our lives and his everlasting impact on our hearts.
Angel was predeceased by his beloved mother, Eusebia Gonzalez. Left to cherish his memory are his children, Lourdes Herrera (Marcos), Milagros Huerta, and Louis Huerta, and his five adored grandchildren, Vicky, Peter, Robert, Mark, and Rebecca.
A visitation will be held at the Dworzanski & Son Funeral Home on Thursday morning, March 7, at 9:15 a.m. with a Catholic prayer service at 10:45 a.m. celebrated by Father Morris Montoya of Blessed Miriam Teresa Demjanovich Parish (St. Mary's R.C. Church). Interment will follow at Holy Name Cemetery, Jersey City.
You can shed tears that he is gone
Or you can smile because he lived.
You can close your eyes and pray that he'll will come back
Or you can open your eyes and see all he's left.
Your heart can be empty because you can’t see him
Or you can be full of the love you shared.
You can turn your back on tomorrow and live yesterday
Or you can be happy for tomorrow because of yesterday.
You can remember him and only that he's gone
Or you can cherish his memory and let it live on.
You can cry and close your mind, be empty, and turn your back
Or you can do what he’d want
– smile, open your eyes, love, and go on.
