John S. Wierzgacz entered into eternal rest peacefully on Tuesday, January 13, 2026, at the Acclaim Health Care Facility in Jersey City. Born in Bayonne, John resided there for 54 years before relocating to Jersey City 30 years ago.
John served his country proudly in the United States Army, including a period stationed in Korea. After completing his military service, he worked as a Welder for Western Electric in Kearny for several years. He later became a Production Chemist with the Colgate-Palmolive Company in Jersey City, where his enthusiasm for chemistry and his commitment to his work made him a valued employee for 20 years before retiring.
John enjoyed traveling, with Hawaii holding a special place in his heart as a destination he visited time and time again. He found happiness in gatherings and celebrations with family and friends and often entertained them with magic tricks, bringing smiles, especially to children. A health and fitness enthusiast, he enjoyed staying active and maintaining good physical health. In his leisure time, he took great pleasure in the comfort of home, spending peaceful moments there and savoring his daily coffee breaks.
John was predeceased by his loving parents, Stanley and Stephanie (Lubach) Wierzgacz. Left to cherish his memory are his cousin and godson, Joseph Lubach, and his wife, Isabel, their daughter, Lola Maria Lubach, and many cousins of the Lubach and Brown families.
A visitation will be held at the Dworzanski & Son Funeral Home on Tuesday morning, January 20, from 9:00 to 10:15 AM, followed by a funeral mass at 10:30 AM at St. John Paul II Parish, 39 East 22nd St., Bayonne. Interment will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery in North Arlington.
In Loving Memory of John S. Wierzgacz
O ŁASKAWE Serce Jezusa zawsze obecne w
przenajświętszym Sakramencie wciąż pałające
gorącą miłością ku duszom w czyśćcu, zmiłuj
się nad tymi duszami i wyprowadź je z
ciemności wygnania, a wprowadź je do
jasności żywota niebieskiego gdzie mamy
nadzieję iż Ty i Twa Błogosławiona Matka,
przygotowaliście dla nich koronę radości wiekuistej
Amen
O Gentle Heart of Jesus, ever present in the Blessed Sacrament,
ever consumed with burning love for the poor souls in Purgatory,
have mercy on the soul of Thy departed servant.
Remember, Lord, the faith of Your people, and look not
on his sins but on the love with which he loved You
Grant that his soul, freed from every bond of sin,
may be welcomed into the company of the saints in light.
O Divine Savior, who art the resurrection and the life,
may he rejoice in Your eternal presence with all who love You.
Amen
